Our climate goals

As a traditional retail location in Krems, we demonstrate responsibility towards people, the region and the environment — both today and on behalf of future generations. This is why for many years MARIANDL Krems has been consistently committed to energy efficiency, proactive climate protection, alternative energy sources and sustainable mobility. Our mall operator, SES Spar European Shopping Centers, has set clear climate goals for this that are to be achieved by 2050 at the latest.

Energy management system certified by TÜV AUSTRIA

SES Spar European Shopping Centers implemented an energy management system for the Austrian shopping malls in compliance with EN ISO 50001:2018 back in 2019. It has now been successfully recertified by TÜV AUSTRIA. At the same time, SES has been able to expand the energy management system to cover all SES shopping malls in Slovenia and Italy and obtain TÜV AUSTRIA certification for the malls in three countries.

MARIANDL KREMS is very easy to reach on foot and with the Krems City Bus. Thanks to its ideallocation directly on the B 35 main road (near junction B 37), the Krems shopping hotspot is fast and convenient to reach.

MARIANDL KREMS is very easy to reach on foot and with the Krems City Bus. Thanks to its ideal location directly on the B 35 main road (near junction B 37), the Krems shopping hotspot is fast and convenient to reach.

500 free parking spaces are available for visitors to MARIANDL Krems and a total of 1500 including the Bühl Center. While you are at the shopping mall you can charge electric cars at our charging points on lower level 2 of the underground car park. In addition, there are plenty of family and disabled parking spaces.

The nextbike station immediately in front of MARIANDL Krems offers convenient rental cycles 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Energy

A 266 kWp photovoltaic system was installed on the roof of the SES MARIANDL shopping mall in Krems in 2022. This generates around 267,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of eco-friendly solar power to meet the centre’s own requirements, saving 64 tons of CO2 a year.* MARIANDL itself consumes around 90 per cent of the solar power generated, and the excess energy is fed into the national grid. SES, the company operating MARIANDL, has for years relied on generating its own electricity and uses its own hydropower station and photovoltaic panels for this.

Helping where there’s a need. We assume social responsibility, whether through long-term cooperation with clubs and associations in the region, through unforgettable events or various charity campaigns.

Warm a Soul

For many people, the Christmas season is not just an occasion to give their loved ones presents but also to donate to charities. The LOOP agency has taken this as an opportunity to launch the “Warm a Soul” initiative. Together with MARIANDL Krems and Caritas, jackets and coats were collected in the Christmas period and then donated to the homeless and people in need to help them get through the freezing cold winter. Thus, for example, 150 items of clothing were given to Caritas Austria in January.

MARIANDL Krems supports the “Sozialfonds Krems” (Krems welfare fund)

MARIANDL Krems wants to help people making important purchases for evervday life, because for example their washing machine has broken or if money for groceries is tight at the end of the month. This is where “Sozialfonds Krems” steps in to provide help, which MARIANDL supported with €2000 in December 2022.
